Teenage Pregnancy

Teenage pregnancy is a huge issue in SA. I personally have been around teen mothers, at school and at church, what I noticed that is common in all these girls is that they all have the same story...."the condom broke", we all know that's not entirely true. As young people we all have this tendency to make excuses as to why things go wrong or why things don't happen. We are all raised in a time where our parents , leaders, teachers and pastors make excuses for everything hence we all follow in that path. Questions are put out to the government as to why
the pregnancy rate is so high, which is a good question I must add, although I think its posed to the wrong people. Personally I think it starts at home, parents should be asked "what are you doing to ensure that your child doesn't fall pregnant?" . In most homes parents are too strict and in that they alienate their kids, they also ashamed to talk about sex which is the biggest mistake majority of parents make- if you don't talk to your child than who do you expect to speak to them? Parents are afraid to talk about sex, prevention and protection,  which must change , education should start at home.....if anyone should be blamed for the teenage pregnancy rate , its the parents especially mothers and guardians who are females because they are the ones who should teach these girls how to be women. If that doesn't happen than we'll continue to have grannies in their thirties.
